house | moya | la isla
Up in the forested mountains of Fontanales, the house is on a small plateau with views of the sea, the city, and a collection of valleys that extend to the top of the island. It is an old house with thick walls of stone, original wood ceilings, a traditional Canary layout, and an expansive porch. We brought new life to it with a renovated kitchen, and all new furniture and lighting that mix vintage and contemporary. Some of the furniture was designed specifically for the house, handmade by a local carpenter.
The house has two bedrooms, a sitting room, a living room, kitchen, entry, and porch. The property is twenty-two acres of lush landscape that crosses a small valley. The house is at the western edge of the property and faces northeast, so there are no nearby neighbors, nor sounds of the road. There is an overgrown path down to an old alpendre at the bottom of the valley where cows once lived. Here, you can find almost complete silence, except for the songbirds who might join you.
